Digital technology has opened up a world of exciting possibilities for our students. At the same time, it has multiplied potential risks.
Technology provides our students with wonderful opportunities. However, devices can also negatively impact development, education, safety and health.
Our school’s goal is to protect every student from the risks associated with the internet and provide students with safe networks for learning - at school, home and everywhere in between.
While our school provides a safe network, we need your help to ensure safe internet access when students are off the school network, at home, or on mobile data.
That’s why we’ve partnered with NZ’s leading provider of cyber safety and digital-awareness services to school communities: Family Zone. Keeping our children safe online is a challenge that requires our entire school community to work together, and

With Family Zone, parents can opt to provide their children with the same protection they receive during school hours - at home and everywhere in between.

Mobile Zone is a downloadable app/application that's installed on your child’s device.
It allows us to apply our acceptable use policies during school times and gives parents the option of parental controls after school.
FAMILY ZONE ACCOUNTS ARE REQUIRED
Parents need a Family Zone account to manage children's profiles and (optionally) manage parental control settings outside of school hours.
Our school will work with Family Zone to automatically create an account for you.
You will then receive an email from Family Zone with a link to activate your account.

From Monday the 20th August the following school policies will apply to Y7-9 students and from Monday 27th August the policies will apply to Y10-12 students.

If a parent chooses to implement policies outside of school time they are able to do this via the Family Portal. They can choose the age-appropriate default settings or customise to what has been discussed with their child. Parents can also turn the filtering off outside of school time (referred to in the Portal as Study, Play, Sleep) if they wish, through the Family Portal.
HOW TO INSTALL MOBILE ZONE
NOTE: Before installing Mobile Zone, make sure you have activated your Family Zone account. You will receive an email from Family Zone with instructions. If you do not receive an email, please contact the school.
For iPhones, iPads, Android phones and tablets:
1. On your child's device, visit the app store (Apple App Store/ Google Play Store).
2. Search for the 'Mobile Zone' app and install it.
3. Load the app and follow the instructions to activate the app and tie it to your child's profile. You will be asked for an 'Activation Key' which you get in the Parent Portal. Sign into your Family Zone account, select 'Devices', then 'Add Device', then 'Generate Key'.
For Macbooks or Windows laptops: click
1. Sign into the Chromebook as your child using their school credentials.
If your child also uses their own Google account on their Chromebook (@gmail.com account), please also follow the Chromebook instructions here to make sure they are protected when signed in with their personal Gmail account. The Mobile Zone extension must be activated for each Google account your child uses on their device.
